Interesting new report from The Carbon Trust (Phase II summary report from the Floating Wind Joint Industry Project).
It highlights the need for alternative lifting solutions for floating offshore heavy lift operations. Included in the report is a summary of a heavy lift offshore operations study undertaken by Seaway 7. This study found that the limited availability and high cost of heavy lift vessels is a barrier to effective offshore operations. The SENSEWind system overcomes this barrier as it does not require heavy lift vessels for installation and maintenance.
