Great article by Heidi Vella in reNEWS – Renewable Energy News this week looking at a number of the technologies (including SENSEWind) being developed to address the challenge of self installing wind turbines for #floatingoffshorewind. It’s clear that ‘tow back’ is not a viable option for O&M.
It is also becoming clear that quayside capacity for installation of #scotwind floating projects will be a huge constraint on the rate of deployment. Self installing wind turbines are the solution and the future!
Developers and OEM’s need to embrace this issue early and set their technology strategies accordingly. Once the wind farm is built, it’s too late!
