Exciting progress is underway on SENSEWind’s 2MW demonstrator, as the nacelle undergoes key modifications to prepare for installation via the groundbreaking SENSE Carriage system.
This innovative approach lifts the entire nacelle – blades included – to the top of the tower, eliminating the need for a very large crane and dramatically reducing installation costs.
While only minor modifications to the nacelle are required to make this possible, the payoff is substantial: faster deployment, lower operational costs, and greater turbine availability.
These nacelle adaptations are just one piece of the action currently unfolding at one of the UK’s most forward-thinking offshore wind start-ups.
